ACEMU Group

  • The AC EMU Group, in the form of a loose association of people, campaigned to save AC EMU's from the late nineties; this included representations to the Railway Heritage Committee. In early 2002 it was decided to make the group more formal and invite membership.
  • The Group saved Class 308 BDTSOL number 75881, which is now at the Pump House Museum, Walthamstow and also collected a number of items relating to AC EMU's.
  • The Group also acted as a collecting point for donations towards the purchase of Class 309 vehicle(s) and promoting the need for 309 preservation. This reached a satisfactory conclusion with the purchase of 6 vehicles by Electric Railway Museum Ltd. See the Group statement for more details
  • Having met the original aims the Group is now dissolving, passing the ownership of 75881 and remaining funds to Electric Railway Museum Ltd. where the larger pool of support will continue the restoration of 75881
  • Donations towards the 309's and 75881 should now be made to Electric Railway Museum Limited, see their donations page for more details
  • 75881 is remaining in Walthamstow, alongside AMEMUA's 307 vehicle for the forseeable future. Work is often undertaken on Thursday evenings, arranged through the 75881 workgroup
  • Please contatc Electric Railway Museum Ltd for working dates on the 309's
