Inspection turned working day

On the 10th October 2004, an inspection of the Class 308 was made to allow more detailed pictures of the problems needing sorting to be taken.

Pictures taken included all the rust effected areas, as well as the small number of cuts made inside when the asbestos was removed. These will require welding up before reassembling the insides.

A full report of the condition will be sent out to all members shortly.

After all this was completed, it was decided that there would be enough time left to move over some of the seat bases that were recovered last year. These had only been stored in a temporary location and some water damaged has resulted. The original arrival date for the Class 308 was back in September 2003, so the temporary storage location suited only about one month. Sadly things dragged out to 13 months.

About half the seat bases were moved during the time left; the only thing remaining to do was to seal up the two missing windows and depart.

(Making a mental note to bring a T Key next time...)

People attending Day were:

N Evans, S Armstrong and M Armstrong
