Appeal Update

After many months of trying to save an example from the 304/5/8 family of AC EMU's. The AC EMU Group's attention has turned to saving a Class 308 Driver Trailer. This was due to the fact the cost relating to saving a 305 Driver Trailer outstripped the cost of saving a 308 Driver Trailer by as much as £2000.

Which as it turns out is not that much less than the cost for saving a 308 Driver Trailer, and it was decided that it would be better to put this money either to saving other classes or in the restoration of the 308.

A suitable home has been arranged as well as quotes relating to its transportation. We have already raised substantial funds and have a growing number of Standing Orders to help in the restoration of this carriage once a suitable example is saved.

The scrapping of this class is due to start shortly, and due to the arrangements with SERCO (Angels Trains' Agents) we will only get very short notice, as they will only offer a carriage once it comes out from stripping without needing the frame and bodywork cutting. It has been found that a number of carriages have needed parts of the body and/or framework removed to clear asbestos, so we need to have the money in the bank so we can act quickly to save an example of this important design.

To allow the purchase of a Class 308 Driver Trailer and transportation will require approximately another £800.
