Interior painting started

On the 14th November 2004, a start was made on painting all the exposed surfaces of the inside of the Class 308 with bitumen paint. Some had already been done by BR but will be re-covered during this painting.

The inside of the 308 can be thought of as 18 doorways (two have been blanked off with windows plus one is in fact the toilet area), four of which have been painted (including most of the ceiling for those four).

With all the joints, door frames and window frames, there are endless hard-to-reach areas. This resulted in each doorway taking about an hour to complete.

This is the first phase of the restoration of the interior and at this rate will take four more working days to complete.
