ACEMU Group

  • The AC EMU Group, in the form of a loose association of people, has been campaigning to save AC EMU's from the late nineties; this included representations to the Railway Heritage Committee. In early 2002 it was decided to make the group more formal and invite membership.
  • Since being formed the Group has saved Class 308 BDTSOL number 75881, which is now at the Pump House Museum, Walthamstow. A growing collection of items relating to AC EMU's, telling the story of their use, development and design, have also been obtained.
  • The Group also acted as a collecting point for donations towards the purchase of Class 309 vehicle(s) and promoting the need for 309 preservation. This has now reached a satisfactory conclusion.

ACEMU Group Aims

  • Restore Class 308 BDTSOL No. 75881 and use it as a museum for AC EMU's.
  • To save at least one carriage from a Class 309, if not a whole unit, on a preserved line or in a museum. This has now reached a satisfactory conclusion.
  • To establish a collection of documents and artefacts that can be used to tell the story of the development and uses of AC EMU's in the UK.
